Yellowjacket of the Week 2003-2004
"Yellowjacket of the Week" is a
new feature for the 2003-2004 seasons. Each
week we will highlight a Yellowjacket
student-athlete who excelled during the previous
week. Below is a list of this year's
"Yellowjackets of the Week."
Joey Ehnes, Softball, May 17, 2004
.....Ehnes was named to the Pacific West Conference
all-conference first team...the junior from Great
Falls, Mont., was also selected to the NCAA West
Region all-region second team...Ehnes set school
records for victories (21) and strikeouts (261).
Sara Hanley, Softball, May 17, 2004
.....Hanley became one of the Yellowjackets' most
solid infielders this season, batting .308 and
having an all-star type of season at third
base...she was named tot he Pacific West Conference
all-conference first team in voting by the league's
coaches.
Layne Pavey, Softball, May 17, 2004
.....Pavey was the PacWest Conference home run
champion with eight homers this season, a school
record...she was selected to the Pacific West
Conference all-conference second team as well as the
NCAA West Region all-region second team.
Anna Henderson, Softball, May 3, 2004
.....Henderson batted .500 in the Yellowjackets' six
wins last week...the sophomore from Frenchtown,
Mont., was 8-for-16 with three runs scored and two
RBI...she finished her first season with the Jackets
with a .265 batting average, fifth on the team.
Caitlin Luehr, Softball, April 26, 2004
.....Luehr had just 18 at bats and three hits
entering Saturday's doubleheader against BYU-Hawaii,
but her tenth inning walk-off home run on Saturday
gave the Yellowjackets a 2-0 win...she sent a 0-2
pitch over the leftfield fence at Cenex Stadium,
ending the game and a 10-inning pitching duel.

Haas, Men's Golf, April 19, 2004
.....Haas shot the lowest single round score of the
season for the Yellowjackets, carding a 1-under 71
in the first round of the Buzzinni/Stanislaus
Invitational...he led the team by finishing the
three-round tournament in 43rd place...along with
his 71, he shot 78 and 79 to finish with a 12-over
228.
Layne Pavey, Softball, April 12, 2004
.....Pavey was named PacWest Player of the Week for
helping the Yellowjackets defeat Hawaii Pacific in
3-of-4 games...she batted .538 in four games with
four RBI and two runs scored...she also hit two home
runs and a double for a 1.077 slugging percentage...Pavey's
game-winning homer in Saturday's extra innings win
was the longest ball hit in the three years of Cenex
Stadium, estimated at 260 feet.
Joey Ehnes, Softball, April 5, 2004
.....Ehnes was named to the Easton Tournament of
Champions all-tournament team after leading the
Yellowjackets to the Silver Bracket championship
game...she pitched 33 innings in six appearances
with a 3-2 record...Ehnes allowed just eight earned
runs for a 1.70 ERA...she struck out 35 batters
while walking eight.

Fry, Women's Tennis, March 29, 2004
.....Fry won both of her singles matches against the
University of Mary as the Lady Jackets swept two
matches, 9-0...Fry has had a solid junior season,
posting the second-highest winning percentage on the
team with a 7-7 singles record in the spring.
Theresa Campbell, Softball, March 22, 2004
.....Campbell was named the tournament Most
Valuable Player for leading the Yellowjackets
to the MSUB Invitational championship...she batted .533 for the weekend and led all
players in slugging percentage (1.000), runs scored (7), hits (8),
RBI (11), total bases (15), and home runs (2)...she hit a
game-winning three run homer against Northern State on Friday in a
4-1 Yellowjackets win.
Cami Rainey, Softball, March 15, 2004
.....Rainey led the Yellowjackets in batting
average, RBI and runs scored in eight games this
week...she batted .367 in 30 at bats, drove in eight
RBI and scored eight runs...she also had three extra
base hits including her second home run of the
season.
Dave Carse, Men's Basketball, March 8, 2004
.....Carse reached yet another career milestone this
week, scoring 33 points in his final two games to
become the school's 20th all-time leading
scorer...he made ten 3-pointers for the week,
including a career-high eight in Thursday's win over
Western New Mexico...he finishes his career as the
sixth most prolific 3-point shooter in school
history with 193 made...he is also fourth in school
history for total assists and third for assists per
game.
Shannon Harvey, Women's Basketball, February 23,
2004
.....Harvey, a freshman from Billings Senior,
achieved career highs for both points and assists
this week as the Yellowjackets won three home
games...she scored ten points and handed out a
career-high eight assists in Thursday's win over
Western New Mexico...in Friday's victory, Harvey
scored a career-high 11 points and added seven more
assists.
Jenny Langford, Women's Basketball, February 16,
2004
.....Langford moved up to No. 10 in school history
for career 3-pointers made with seven this
week...she scored a career-high 21 points on
Saturday in a win against Converse College, making
five 3-pointers...Langford also climbed to No. 6 in
school history for 3-pointers in a single season.
Joey Ehnes, Softball, February 9, 2004
.....Ehnes earned PacWest player of the week honors
after leading the Yellowjackets to a 4-2 record at
the season-opening Las Vegas Classic...she was 3-0
in three starts, striking out 20 batters while
allowing just seven hits and one earned run in 21
innings.
Cameron Munoz, Men's Basketball, February 2,
2004
.....Munoz averaged 25.5 points a game in two road
losses at Western New Mexico...he made a dozen
3-pointers in the two games, including seven on
Saturday when he scored 28 points...Munoz leads the
PacWest and the nation in 3-point field goals per
game at 4.78.
Jerett Skrifvars, Men's Basketball, January 26,
2004
.....Skrifvars became the 19th Yellowjacket to score
over 1,000 points in a career this week, reaching
the milestone about midway through the first half of
Saturday's win against Chaminade...he scored at
least 20 points in all three games this week,
helping the Yellowjackets to three important
conference wins...Skrifvars was nearly unstoppable
all week, making 20 of 30 field goal attempts
(66.7%) and 25 of 31 free throw attempts (80.6%).
Buddy Windy Boy, Men's Basketball, January 19,
2004
.....Windy Boy set career-highs for points, rebounds
and assists in two wins over Green Mountain over the
weekend...he netted 21 points Saturday night,
besting his old career-high of 16 points...he also
pulled down a career-best eight rebounds and handed
out a career-high six assists.
Alisa Lordemann, Women's Basketball, January 19,
2004
.....Lordemann set new career-highs for points and
assists in two wins against Green Mountain...she
matched her career-high of 13 points on Friday, and
handed out a career-best four assists in each
game...she was 5-of-6 from the field and 3-of-4 from
the free throw line on Friday.
Trae Fortier, Men's Basketball, January 12, 2004
.....Fortier averaged 27.7 points and 9.7 rebounds
in his first three PacWest Conference games...the
junior transfer from Los Angeles scored a
career-high 37 points to go with a career-high 13
rebounds in his first PacWest outing at Hawaii
Pacific...he notched two double-doubles in the three
games, including 21 points and ten rebounds in
Thursday's win at Hawaii Pacific.
Cameron Munoz, Men's Basketball, January 5, 2004
.....Munoz was named PacWest Player of the Week for
leading the Yellowjackets to two West Region
victories...the sophomore guard from Chino, CA,
scored a team-high 18 points in an upset of
second-ranked Humboldt State on Monday...he was a
perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line, including
6-of-6 in the final 1:50...he made four 3-pointers
and scored 17 on Saturday in a win over Western
Oregon.
Tanya Petersen, Women's Basketball, December 22,
2003
.....Petersen eclipsed her career-high for scoring
twice this weekend, netting 15 against
Alaska-Fairbanks and 21 against Alaska-Anchorage,
both wins...Petersen pushed her season scoring
average into double digits and is now averaging 11.5
points per game...after ten games, Petersen is
second on the team for scoring, rounding and
assists.
Ally Taylor, Women's Soccer, December 15, 2003
.....Taylor became the first Lady Yellowjacket ever
selected to the All-West Region team this week...she
was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association
of America All West Region Second Team...Taylor led
the Yellowjackets in scoring this season as a true
freshman and was second on the team in goals scored.
Cameron Munoz, Men's Basketball, December 8,
2003
.....Munoz made the play of the game Saturday,
coming up with a steal and game-winning layup in the
final half minute to lift the Yellowjackets to an
85-81 win over Chadron State...he scored a team-high
18 points and had three 3-pointers...earlier in the
week, Munoz scored a game-high 20 points with six
3-pointers in a 45-point win over Great Falls...his
65.6 field goal percentage leads the team and the
conference, as do his 56.5 3-point percentage and
4.33 3-pointers per game.
Robyn Milne, Women's Basketball, November 24,
2003
.....Milne, the Lady Jackets' team captain, averaged
a double-double through the first four games of the
season as MSUB started the year 2-2...she averaged
15 points and 13.5 rebounds a game this week, both
team highs...Milne also had nine blocked shots,
giving her 109 for her career...she notched
career-highs for points (20) and rebounds (16) in
the season opener against Sonoma State.
Olivia Munro, Volleyball, November 17, 2003
.....Munro knocked down a career-high 33 kills on
102 attempts in a five-game loss to Western New
Mexico in the Yellowjackets' season finale...her
single-match totals for kills and attempts were both
season highs in the PacWest...Munro finished the
season ranked 7th in the PacWest for kills (4.04 kpg)
and 5th for digs (3.31 dpg).
Cortney Metzler, Volleyball, November 10, 2003
.....Metzler had 28 kills on 68 attempts with just
four attack errors (.353 hitting percentage) in a
pair of matches against Hawaii-Hilo...she knocked
down 15 kills and had three total blocks in the
Jackets' second PacWest win of the year on
Friday...she finished Saturday's match with 13
kills, only one error, and five block assists...she
ranks sixth in the PacWest Conference for blocks at
1.00 per game.
Katrina Dahlgren, Volleyball, November 3, 2003
.....Dahlgren was consistent on the attack and the
block in two matches over the weekend, including the
Yellowjackets' first conference win, a 3-1 victory
over Chaminade...she had a .377 hitting percentage
for the week with 25 kills on 53 attempts with just
five errors...Dahlgren also had ten total blocks in
eight games and is ranked fourth in the PacWest with
1.04 blocks per game.
Anjel Hoff, Women's Cross-Country, October 27,
2003
.....Hoff led the Yellowjackets to a narrow 27-28
victory over Dickinson State in Saturday's
Yellowjacket Invitational...she broke 20 minutes for
the first time this season, covering the 5K course
in 19:21 to win by 18 seconds...the win was the
first of the season for the Billings native and
helped MSUB to a season sweep of rival DSU.
Megan Plank, Women's Soccer, October 20, 2003
.....Plank saved nine shots in a 2-1 loss to Carroll
College Saturday, giving her 75 for the season...a
true freshman, she has played 899 minutes this
season for a 1.00 goals against average...the school
record for a season goals against average is 2.10,
posted by Gretchen Kaus in 1999...Plank has four
games remaining in the season to also make a run at
the top three for saves in a season...Kaus is third
on the list for her 107 in 2000.
Ally Taylor, Women's Soccer, October 13, 2003
.....Taylor scored two goals in an assist in a 4-1
win at Minnesota-Crookston on Friday...she then
assisted on the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win
at Northern State University on Sunday...Northern
State entered the game ranked No. 7 in the Central
Region with an 8-2-2 record...Taylor, a true
freshman from Ojai, CA, currently leads the
Yellowjackets with 18 points on six goals and six
assists.
Sara Otis, Women's Soccer, October 6, 2003
.....Otis assisted on the eventual game-winning goal
and added a goal of her own just nine minutes later
Saturday, helping the Yellowjackets to a commanding
4-1 win over the University of Mary...she is third
on the team with six points, including two goals and
two assists...her three points against the Marauders
moved Otis into a tie for third place on the Lady
Jackets' all-time scoring list...she now has nine
career goals and eight assists for 26 points.
Chelsea Lynnes, Women's Cross-Country, September
29, 2003
....Lynnes becomes the first two-time Yellowjacket
of the Week after winning the Dickinson State
Invitational....she covered the 3.1-mile course in
20:21, 17 seconds ahead of the second place
finisher....Lynnes now has 1st, 2nd and 14th place
finishes in three starts.
Margot Merrill-Johnson, Women's Soccer,
September 22, 2003
....Merrill-Johnson scored the first goal of the
game and played every field position in a 3-0
shutout of cross-town rival Rocky Mountain
College....she leads the Yellowjackets with four
goals and eight points so far this season....the win
over Rocky was the first for the Jackets since
Merrill-Johnson, a junior, has played at MSUB and
gave the Yellowjackets a 5-4 series lead over the
Bears.
Chelsea Lynnes, Women's Cross-Country, September
15, 2003
....Lynnes led the Yellowjackets to a second place
team finish at the South Dakota Tech
Invitational....she finished third individually with
a time of 15:17, just eight seconds behind the race
winner.
Thomas Pertuit, Men's Soccer, September 8, 2003
....Pertuit scored 10 points in three games at the
Westminster College tournament, leading the
Yellowjackets to a 2-1 record....he scored three
goals and had an assist against Colorado Christian
in the first game...Pertuit helped the Jackets to a
school record three-game winning streak and a 3-2-1
start to the season.
Olivia Munro, Volleyball, September 1, 2003
....Munro registered 60 kills and 48
digs in leading the Yellowjackets to a 2-2 record at
the Clash in the Foothills tournament in
Colorado....she averaged 4.62 kills and 3.69 digs
per game and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
