Lady Jackets Win Home Opener

BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana
State Billings shook off a sluggish start Thursday, winning
three straight games to defeat Saint Martin’s 23-30, 30-26,
30-24, 30-19. The match was the Yellowjackets’ home opener
and the first Great Northwest Athletic Conference match
played at Alterowitz Gym.
Neither team started
sharp. The Saints (0-12, 0-3) overcame a .000 team attack
percentage to win the first game. MSUB hit just .094 in
that game with numerous errors hitting, setting, and
serving.
The Yellowjackets (8-3,
2-1) rebounded from the slow start to hit .195 for the
match.
Jennifer Boe (Casper, Wyo.) and
Devon
Crotteau (Casper, Wyo.) each posted double-doubles for
kills and digs. Boe had a season-high 15 kills and 13 digs along with six
blocks. Crotteau knocked down 17 kills to go with 16 digs,
both match highs.
Alicia Cazemier (Vauxhall, Alberta) had the best hitting
night of any player on the court, drilling 13 kills on a
.391 hitting percentage. She was also in on five blocks.
Stefania Aladjova (Sofia, Bulgaria) handed out 42
assists.
The Saints were paced by
10 kills each from Malia Ibarra, Andrea Tarbet, and Nicole
Ostlund. Saint Martin’s hit just .080 for the match.
Ibarra and Kimber Simonetti each had 15 digs.
The Yellowjackets host
Western Oregon Saturday night at Alterowitz Gym. The match
starts at 7 p.m. and will be video streamed at

6-4 overall and in first place in the GNAC with a 3-0 league
mark.
