Three Yellowjackets Named Honorable Mention NSCAA/Adidas Scholar All-West Region

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State Billings women’s soccer team received more postseason accolades as three players were named NSCAA/adidas Scholar-All West Region Honorable Mention.  Senior Abby Bennett, along with juniors Sarah Gress and Melissa Carlson were named to the 21-member team.

MSUB is the only Great Northwest Athletic Conference member to have student-athletes named to the NSCAA/adidas Scholar Athlete All-West Region Team.  In addition, this is the second consecutive year that MSUB has had players earn this distinguished honor.  Former Yellowjacket and current assistant coach Ally Taylor/Stroup was a second team selection and former Jacket Megan Plank was named to the third team in 2006.

Bennett, a native of Livingston, Mont., held a 3.88 grade-point average this past fall and has a 3.66 cumulative GPA in health and human performance.  She played and started in 19 games in 2007, helping the Yellowjacket defense to three shutouts during the year and she scored one goal.

Gress, originally from Boise, Idaho, and a 2007 co-captain, carried a 3.88 GPA in environmental studies and has a 3.66 cumulative average.  She also helped lead the Yellowjacket defense playing in all 20 games and tallying one assist.

Renton, Wash., native Melissa Carlson earned a 3.94 GPA in the fall and carries a 3.91 cumulative GPA in health and human performance.  Carlson played in all 20 games and started 17, while recording three assists.
