BILLINGS, Mont. – A dream is becoming reality for the Montana State Billings men’s soccer program as they posted a 4-0 shutout win over visiting University of Great Falls Saturday.  The Jackets have recorded their best start in the program’s history at 3-0.  Dating back to the 2006 season, the Yellowjackets' unprecedented four-straight wins rank them first in school history for consecutive victories.  In addition, the four wins have also come by way of shutout.

“We played a solid game today,” said Yellowjacket head coach Dan McNally.  “We created a lot of scoring chances, and anytime you can score four goals, you have to be pleased.  Our defense is doing a good job for us in that we have not conceded one goal this season.”

Matt D'Hont

The Yellowjackets’ Chris Andre (Billings) took a short cross from teammate Jurell Linford (Missoula) to score the eventual game-winning goal 17 minutes into the game.  With just 16 second remaining in the half, Greg McKeever (Kirkland, Wash.) scored his first goal of the season on a free-kick from 25 yards.

A feisty Argos team kept the Jackets at bay until the 81st minute when Sam Charles (Weymouth, England) converted a penalty kick into a goal, his fourth of the season.  Matt D’Hont (Rapid City, S.D.) made a diving header with 46 seconds left in the game off a pass from Josh Hernandez (Palmdale, Calif.).  The goal was D’Hont’s first of the season.

The Yellowjackets out-shot the Argos 22-1, twelve of which were on goal.  Argos keeper Robby Ekins made seven saves on the day.  The Jackets' defense continued to be a strong force.  Sander Tollefson (Missoula) has posted 392:29 consecutive shutout minutes in goal.

“We will work hard in practice this week and be prepared for our game against Mary on Saturday,” added McNally.  “We are confident and will continue to build momentum from our wins this season.”

The Yellowjackets are set to host University of Mary (0-2) Saturday, September 8 at the College of Technology.  Kick off against the Mauraders is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
