Yellowjackets’ Drought Continues into

BILLINGS, Mont. – Hoping to enter 2008 with
a win, the Montana State Billings men’s basketball team will
need to wait a bit longer as the Jackets fell 77-57 against the
University of Montana-Western Monday night at Alterowitz. The
Bulldogs improved to an even 7-7, while MSUB is 0-11 with the
conference season scheduled to start on Saturday.
Following four lead changes in the first
six minutes of the contest, the Jackets found themselves up by
seven at the 12:34 mark. Chipping away at the Jackets’ lead,
the Bulldogs went on a 10-4 run to close out the half taking a
six-point lead into the locker room.
In the second half the Yellowjackets had
their chances getting within one possession on three different
occasions, but the persistent Bulldogs broke open a double-digit
lead on a 3-pointer by Dovydas Retkus at the 15-minute mark.
Montana-Western pulled away from the Jackets through the
remainder of the game, icing the win by 20.

Brooks (Perris, Calif.) was the lone Yellowjacket to score
in double-figures netting 14 points. Brooks was 4-of-12 from
the floor and 2-of-6 from long range.
Cameron Khoury (Alta Loma, Calif.) chipped in nine points
and a team-high nine rebounds.
The Jackets shot 27 percent from the field
and connected on just 5-of-25 attempts from behind the arc for
20 percent. MSUB was 16-of-27 from the free throw line for 59
percent.
Three Bulldogs averaged double-figures and
were led by Chad Myers game-high 22 points. Myers owned the
court from the perimeter draining 7-of-13 from long range while
shooting 7-of-18 from the floor. Aaron Sims posted a
double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds with teammate Gus
McDonald contributing 12 points.
Montana-Western shot 35 percent from the
field and was an efficient 40 percent from long range going
13-of-32. The team went 24-of-31 from the charity stripe for 77
percent. The Bulldogs out-rebounded the Yellowjackets 57-39.
The Jackets are set to host Great Northwest
Athletic Conference opponent Seattle University (7-2) on
Saturday, January 5 to open the conference schedule. Live video
