Brent Montague was hired as the Athletic
Corporate Salesperson at Montana State University Billings in
August of 2007.
Montague returns to MSU Billings after
spending the last four years in automotive sales. He was an
assistant basketball coach for the Yellowjackets from 1996 to
2003. In 2000, Montague took over as MSUB’s NCAA Compliance
Officer, a position he held until he left the university in
2003.
“We are very pleased to announce the hiring
of Brent Montague as our newest Athletics Corporate
Salesperson,” Gray said. “The addition of Brent to our
corporate partnership sales staff will allow us to grow our
already successful sponsorship program by being able to contact
more businesses in the Billings area and explain to them how
they can increase the sales of their products and services
through some unique advertising opportunities with Yellowjacket
Athletics. Brent is a product of our program and a graduate of
our university. He is a member of our Hall of Fame and
Distinction and a former Yellowjacket coach. He brings four
years of successful sales experience in the Billings community,
and we are extremely pleased to have him on our staff.”
Montague, a native of Marysville, Wash.,
played basketball for two seasons at MSU Billings and helped
lead the Jackets to the NCAA Tournament in 1996. In Montague’s
senior season, the Yellowjackets reached the NCAA Tournament for
the first time in 10 years. He averaged 19.4 points and 8.6
rebounds per game that year, leading MSU-Billings to the Pacific
West Conference title. That was the same year that the
Yellowjackets knocked off Oregon State on the Beavers’ home
court. Considered one of the cornerstones in the rejuvenation
of the Yellowjacket basketball program, Montague was inducted
into the MSU-Billings Hall of Fame and Distinction in 2002.
Montague’s responsibilities as the
Athletics Corporate Salesperson will include selling corporate
partnership packages to local business, coordinating advertising
opportunities for corporate partners, and increasing enrollment
in the Yellowjacket Athletic Association. Montague can be
reached at 896-5934.
