Game 1 Box Score
Game 2 Box Score

GREAT FALLS, MT – The Montana State-Billings softball team swept University of Great Falls in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday.  The Yellowjackets won 8-5 and 17-2 to improve to 17-20.  The Argos fell to 1-5.

Lindsey Trenary (Helena, MT) went the distance in the fist game for her second win of the season (2-3) and the first-ever victory between Montana college softball teams. She allowed eight hits and three earned runs in seven innings, striking out five and walking four.  Terina Stacks (Washougal, WA) and Jenna Haacke (Billings, MT) had two hits apiece for the Yellowjackets.  Steph Gosselin (Victoria, BC) drove in two runs on a pair of sac flies.

In the second game, the Yellowjackets scored eight runs in the second and eight more in the fifth before the game ended because of the eight-run rule.  The 17 runs scored set a new school record.  Jenna McCartney (Hamilton, MT) was 3-for-5 and scored three times.  Jessica Frank (Great Falls, MT) was 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs in her return to her hometown.  Aysha Maddox (Richland, WA) was 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs.  Rebekah Tsatsa (Eagle, ID) struck out five without a walk to earn her seventh win of the year (7-8).  Stacks stole three bases in both games, tying the school record.

The Yellowjackets have played 35 of their first 37 games on the road this season.  They return to Cenex Stadium for a pair of doubleheaders against Texas-Permian Basin (11-17) this weekend.  First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., and Sunday’s first game will start at 11:00 a.m.
