First Day of Collegiate Cup Complete

BILLINGS, MT – After the first day
of the annual Collegiate Cup between the MSUB and Rocky
Mountain golf teams, the Jacket men are tied up while
the women trail. Competition was completed today in “4
Ball” pairings, which two-person teams compete against a
single opposing team.
The Yellowjacket men began the day
with a 3-1 victory from the pairing of Zach Abels and
Mike Rider. MSUB’s Michael Conrad and Jason Kinsey
split in their match-up against Rocky’s Jarred Atkins
and Todd Truscott. Jacket senior Nathan Redfern and
junior Tyler Nicholas edged their competition 2-1, while
Travis Gates and Kruise Kemp fell 1-0. Sophomore Jeff
Allen and Brian Lytle dropped their meeting to Rocky as
well, 2-1. The MSUB men are tied with Rocky at 2.5
each.
Rocky’s women took each of three
contests to take a big lead at the Peter Yegen Golf
Course. Both the teams of Nicole Salsbery/Teri Rebo and
Jessica Boyer/Emily Maag were defeated by Rocky teams,
5-4. MSUB Freshmen Amy Nordeen and Brittney Hedge lost
their match, 4-2.
Play will continue tomorrow at the
par-71, 6,600 yard course with singles-play.
