Hawaii-Hilo Tennis Sweeps Jackets (3/23/07)

LOS ANGELES, CA – University of Hawaii-Hilo downed the Montana State-Billings men’s tennis team 6-3, while the women were swept in straight matches to fall 9-0 Wednesday in Los Angeles. 

The Jackets’ Tytus Stempeniwicz (Gydnia, Poland) and Gabriel Diaz (Lima, Peru) defeated Mikwatsek and Melskens of Hawaii-Hilo 9-8 in doubles play.   Stempeniwicz also defeated Pollock of Hawaii-Hilo in singles play winning 1-6, 6-3, 7-6.  Phillipe Andermatt won his singles match for the Yellowjackets downing Mikwatsek in singles, 6-2, 6-2.

The Yellowjacket men’s team also played Azusa Pacific University earlier in the week where they fell 6-3 to the Cougars.
