Wiley, Miner Earn HLC Honors (3/7/07)

BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings senior Jonathan Wiley was named to the Heartland Conference honorable mention team on Wednesday.  The 6-foot-6 guard/forward from Westlake Village, Calif., was the only Yellowjacket selected to the Heartland all-conference teams.  Yellowjacket freshman Jeff Miner was selected as the conference’s co-freshman of the year.

Wiley Miner

Wiley averaged 14.6 points and 5.9 rebounds a game.  He led the Yellowjackets in total minutes played and rebounds and was second on the team for scoring.  Wiley played in 102 games in his career at MSU Billings, finishing with 743 points and 416 career rebounds.  He’s the only player in school history to rank in the top 10 for both career steals and career blocked shots.

Miner, a 6-3 guard from Gresham, Ore., played in 19 games as a true freshman before missing the final eight games because of injury.  At the time of his injury, he led the Heartland Conference in 3-point shooting and ranked in the top five for scoring.  He also ranked fourteenth in the nation for 3-pointers made.  Because he didn’t play in 75 percent of the team’s games, he was not included in the conference or NCAA final statistical rankings.  Miner averaged 16.0 points per game.
