Jacket Baseball Signs Columbia Falls Player (6/21/07)

BILLINGS, MT – Montana State University Billings baseball coach Chris Brown announced Thursday that Josh Peterson of Columbia Falls, Montana, has signed a letter of intent to play for the Yellowjackets.  Peterson is a 2006 graduate of Columbia Falls High School and is currently playing for the Glacier Twins legion program.

“We are excited to have Josh join our program,” said Brown.  “He is a strong athletic kid that is raw talent.  He will be interesting to watch develop over the next four years.  Josh is a solid student that is very motivated to succeed in the classroom and on the field.  He has been a leader on his athletic teams and I have no doubt he will bring those intangibles to Yellowjacket Baseball as well.”

Peterson attended Flathead Valley Community College for one year and will have four seasons of eligibility remaining.  Last year for the Glacier Twins he batted .381 with 25 RBIs and 30 runs.  He pitched 92 innings with a 3.73 ERA in 35 appearances as a relief pitcher.  Peterson was a two-time team MVP of his legion team as a 15- and 16-year old.  He also lettered in football and wrestling at Columbia Falls HS.

“Ever since MSU Billings started a baseball program, I have been interested in playing here,” said Peterson.  “I have heard great things about the school, and it’s close to home.  MSUB also has the degree (business administration) I want to pursue in college.”
