Born in Billings, MT, Cody attended Billings West High School and graduated in 2005. There he received All-Conference honors in wrestling as a sophomore and All-State honors in football as a senior. Upon graduation, he spent a year playing baseball and football for Jamestown College in North Dakota.

"I chose MSUB because I felt it was a better fit for me compared to where I originally went to college," said Clark. "I felt it was a good place to get a fresh start and have the opportunity to play in front of the people who have supported me my whole life."
