Men's Basketball

David Carse

Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

David Carse enters his second year as Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. He coordinates Billings Bees clinics and Coach’s Club events. Carse had a stellar career as the Yellowjackets’ point guard from 2000 to 2004.

As a senior Carse was named to the All-PacWest Conference second team and the PacWest Academic All-Conference team. He finished the season as the PWC leader in 3-pointers made, assists and assist-turnover ratio. He was ranked in the NCAA top 50 for those categories plus 3-point field goal percentage.

David was first on Carse’s bench in 1986-87 and 1995-96 as a manager. Both seasons saw the Yellowjackets capture conference championships and play in the NCAA Tournament, at West Virginia State in 1987 and at MSU Billings n 1996. Carse also served as a ball boy for legendary Louisiana State coach Dale Brown from 1987 to 1994 while his father Craig was Brown’s assistant. "While working games at LSU against schools like Duke, UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina and Arizona, it became evident that I wanted to be a college basketball player and coach," said David.

David Carse will serve as the Yellowjackets’ coordinator of recruiting, scouting and travel. He will also serve as Craig Carse’s defensive coordinator and supervise team support staff. As a member of the NSCA, he directs the Yellowjackets’ strength and conditioning as well as preseason skill work.

"David brings an experienced knowledge of our style, system and direction," said Craig Carse. "No assistant could be more loyal, and his direction to purpose is unmatched. David has a life of experience in NCAA basketball. He has played and worked clinics in Europe and Australia as well as with the Chinese National teams. He has also directed and worked camps and clinics across the United States, in particular at MSU Billings."

David, a magna cum laude graduate from MSU Billings, has a degree in liberal studies with an emphasis in coaching, communications and marketing.

Carse is completing his masters in Sport Management at MSU Billings. He is also a part-time instructor at the university and a member of Hyde Drift Boats Pro Staff.
