 Jackets’ Bennett Helps Bozeman to State Cup Title (June 3, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings women’s
soccer player Abby Bennett helped the Bozeman Blitz win the 2005
Montana State U.S. Youth Soccer Cup. The tournament was held in
Missoula, Mont., over the Memorial Day weekend. Bozeman will now
move on to the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regional in Aurora,
Colo., on June 19-25.
Bennett played in 16 games as a true freshman
for the Yellowjackets last season. The midfielder from Livingston
started six games and scored three goals for the 12-4-3
Yellowjackets. Bennett was a two-time all-state selection and
team MVP at Park County HS.
The Bozeman Blitz went 3-1 at the State Cup,
defeating the Billings Magic in overtime, 2-0, in the title game.
In the opening round, Bennett scored the winning goal in the
team’s 1-0 win over Ravalli United. She had an assist in a 5-0
win against Helena Arsenal and another goal in a 3-1 loss to
Billings Magic. |
