BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings senior Robyn Milne was named to the “ESPN The Magazine” 2005 College Division Academic All-District VII Women’s Basketball First Team by CoSIDA on Thursday.  Milne, a 6-3 center from Richey, MT, majors in English Education and has a 3.91 cumulative grade point average.

By being named one of the five first team members for District VII, Milne advances to the national ballot for the “ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team.”  She is the third Montana State-Billings student-athlete to reach the national balloting in the last two years.  Last year men’s basketball player Jerett Skrifvars was named to the Academic All-America First Team.  This fall women’s soccer player Margot Merrill-Johnson was named to the ESPN Academic All-America First Team.

The College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America program divides the country into eight districts.  Sports Information Directors from each of the eight districts select their Academic All-District teams with student-athletes from the eight first teams advancing to national balloting for Academic All-America honors.  Schools from Montana are part of District VII, which also includes Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alberta and Saskatchewan.  Nominees for the District VII College Division can come from any Division II, Division III, or NAIA school in any of those states.

Along with excelling in the classroom, Milne has been a star on the court for the Yellowjackets in the past four years.  She currently ranks second in school history and 21st in NCAA Division II history for career blocked shots with 248.  With four more blocks, she will join former teammate Jessie Henigman in the all-time top 20.

Milne is also second in MSU Billings history with 876 career rebounds and 16th with 959 career points.  This season she is averaging a double-double of 12.1 points and 10.0 rebounds a game.  She currently ranks eighth in the nation for blocked shots and 34th for rebounds.  Her 74 blocked shots this season match her career high that she established as a junior.

Milne plays her final two home games as a Yellowjacket Friday and Saturday when MSUB hosts Grand Canyon.  Tip off both nights is set for 7:00 p.m.
