Jackets Upset HPU at PacWest Tennis Tourney

Laie, HI - Montana State-Billings
upset Hawaii Pacific, 5-4, on Thursday at the Pacific West
Conference Men's Tennis Tournament. The Yellowjacket
women fell 7-0 to the Sea Warriors. The tournament
continues on Friday.
The Yellowjacket men claimed two of
the doubles points, one on a default, and closed out the
win with three singles victories, again picking up one of
the wins by default. Despite the closeness of the team
score, none of the individual or doubles matches were
close, with an 8-3 win at number two doubles by the
Yellowjackets’ Paco Sanchez and Sergio Diaz being the
closest doubles contest. The Jackets picked up singles
wins at No. 4 from Kellen Malone, No. 5 from Sean O’Daniel,
and No. 6 from Seth Maristuen.
Montana State-Billings will face UH-Hilo at noon Friday in
the tournament's second round.
The Yellowjacket women quickly feel
behind Hawaii Pacific with three doubles losses. Four
straight-set singles victories ended the match. The
Yellowjackets face top-ranked BYU-Hawaii in Friday’s 9:00
a.m. match.
