Jackets Climbing NCAA Stats Rankings (Apr. 20, 2005)

BILLINGS, MT – Four different Montana State-Billings softball players are ranked in the nation’s top 45 by the NCAA in this week’s Division II statistical rankings.  The Yellowjackets are ranked eighteenth in the nation for team batting average at .324.

Joey Ehnes (Sr., Great Falls, MT) is ranked in the top 20 in two pitching categories.  She is eighth for victories with 22 and sixteenth for strikeouts per seven innings at 8.8.  She earned her 22nd win last week, setting a new school record.  She also eclipsed the 600 career strikeouts mark.

Theresa Campbell (Sr., Great Falls, MT) has homered in four of her last six games to jump to 24th nationally for home runs per game at 0.26.  Her 10 home runs this season lead the PacWest Conference and are a new school record.  She is also 42nd in the nation for slugging percentage at .698.

Cami Rainey (Sr., Terreton, ID) is ranked in three different offensive categories.  The Jackets’ leadoff hitter is eighteenth in the country for doubles per game at 0.41 and 34th for batting average at .432.  Rainey leads the Jackets with 39 runs, ranking her 38th nationally for runs per game at 1.0.

Rachel Quarnburg (So., Billings, MT) is the Yellowjackets’ leading hitter, batting .463 in her first season with the team.  That is good enough to rank her nineteenth in the nation for batting average.

The Yellowjackets are idle this week, returning to action on Monday, April 25 against Minot State.  The first game of the doubleheader is set for 11:30 a.m. at Cenex Stadium.
