Box Score

DENVER, CO – Three different players scored for Metro State on Monday as the Roadrunners ran past Montana State-Billings, 3-0, in men’s soccer.  It was the final game of the year for the Yellowjackets, who conclude the season with a 6-12-0 overall record.  Metro State, ranked third in the Midwest Region, improved to 11-3-1.

Phillip Owen scored his seventeenth goal of the season just 15:45 into the game to give the Roadrunners the only goal they would need.  Metro out-shot the Yellowjackets 10-3 in the half and 20-7 in the game.  The Roadrunners added a pair of second half goals to put the game away.  Antonio Porras scored at 51:59 and Nagui Sabbagh found the net at 82:43.

All three of the Yellowjackets’ first half shots were on goal but saved by Metro goalkeeper David McReavy.  McReavy made four saves in the game.  Yellowjacket keeper Kyle Bales (Sr., Cody, WY) had two saves in each half to finish the season with 69 saves in 11 games.  After taking over the goalkeeping duties at midseason, Bales posted a 3-7-0 record and a 2.29 goals against average.

Thomas Pertuit (Sr., Billings, MT), Greg McKeever (Fr., Kirkland, WA), Dustin Kono (Jr., Aberdeen, SD) and Jesse Spann (Jr., Rock Springs, WY) each had one shot on goal in the game.  Pertuit finished his senior season with a team-high 11 goals and 25 points.  He scored 23 goals in his four-year career, ranking him second in school history behind David Austin.

For MSU Billings, 2004 it became the third-straight season with six wins.  The Yellowjackets were 6-11-0 in 2002, 6-9-1 in 2003 and 6-12-0 in 2004.
