High Scoring Week Elevates Jackets in National Rankings (Jan. 25, 2005)

BILLINGS, MT – After averaging 108 points a game in three conference games last week, the Montana State-Billings men’s basketball team is ranked fourth nationally for both scoring and 3-point shooting.  The Yellowjackets won two of three PacWest Conference games last week and moved their season scoring average to 90.7.  Pfeiffer still leads Division II at 97.5 points a game.

The Yellowjackets made 35 three-pointers in last week’s three games, improving their per game average to 10.6 made 3-pointers.  Southwest Baptist leads the nation at 12.5.  The Yellowjackets also rank tenth nationally for free throw percentage at 76.4 percent.

MSU Billings has two of the top 3-point shooters in the nation in Buddy Windy Boy (Jr., Lodge Grass, MT) and Cameron Munoz (Jr., Chino, CA).  Windy Boy ranks fifth nationally for 3-pointers made per game (3.9) and nineteenth for 3-point field goal percentage (45.3).  Munoz is sixth in the country for 3-pointers made at 3.8 per game.

Munoz also ranks fourth in Division II for free throw percentage at 90.7 percent.  Yellowjacket sophomore Jonathan Wiley (Westlake Village, CA) is 49th in the nation at 85.2 percent.

The Jackets host Western New Mexico for a pair of PacWest Conference games this week.  Thursday's game tips off at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday's will start at 2:00.
