MSU Billings Hires Tennis Center Director (Mar. 31, 2005)

BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings Athletics Director Dr. Gary Gray announced Thursday that Angela Henke has been hired as the Director of the Indoor Tennis Center.  Constructed three years ago, the Indoor Center has been home to the Yellowjacket tennis teams, intramural programs, and public tennis players.

“Jerry Peach, our men’s and women’s tennis coach, has been managing the Tennis Center along with coaching both tennis teams and teaching several classes,” said Gray of the new Tennis Center Director position.  “Hiring Angela will allow Coach Peach to focus on his teaching and coaching responsibilities while giving us someone who can put her energies into the Tennis Center.  Angela has a breadth of experience in athletics and has very strong organizational skills.  I think she will do a great job of expanding the use of the Indoor Tennis Center for both the campus community and the general public.”

A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Henke graduated from University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2003 with an undergraduate degree in kinesiology.  While at UNLV she interned in the sports medicine program.  Henke will complete her master’s degree in Sport Management at MSU Billings in December.  She served as a graduate assistant for operations and sports information for the 2004-2005 academic year.

“This is a great opportunity for me,” said Henke.  “I think the Indoor Tennis Center has the potential to be an outstanding resource for the university and the community.  The playing surfaces are some of the best in the area for tennis, and the facility can hold a large variety of events at any time of the year.  I love Montana and the Billings area, and I am appreciative to Dr. Gray for giving me the opportunity to stay here and do something I enjoy.”
