Lady Jackets Fall at No. 21 Seattle (Sept. 13, 2003)

SEATTLE, WA – The MSU Billings women’s soccer team dropped its second straight game on its road trip to Washington, falling 4-0 to 21st-ranked Seattle University on Saturday.  The Yellowjackets fell to 2-2-1 while Seattle improved to 5-2.

A year after being shelled 10-0 by the Redhawks, the Jackets played SU to a 0-0 halftime tie on Saturday.  Even though MSU Billings was out-shot 14-2 in the opening half, goalkeeper Alyssa Wolfer (Fr., Longmont, CO) made six of her nine saves in the first 45 minutes.  In last year’s meeting between the two teams, Seattle scored five goals in each half.

The Redhawks finally beat Wolfer in the 55th minute Saturday when Kate Green scored on a rebound off the crossbar.  Back-to-back goals by Jordan Bieler in the 61st and 71st minutes put the game out of reach.  Seattle added a Katy Mak goal in te 83rd minute to close out the scoring.

Seattle out-shot the Jackets 26-4 in the game.  Margot Merrill-Johnson (Jr., Salt Lake City) managed MSUB’s only shot on goal.  The Yellowjackets will have Sunday off before taking on Seattle Pacific on Monday.  The Falcons were 4-1 entering Saturday’s match against Northwest Nazarene.  SPU is currently ranked No. 4 in the Far West Region.
