Lady Yellowjackets Fall in Overtime to Northwest Nazarene (Jan. 23, 2004)
Box Score

LACEY, WA – A second half rally fell just short for the Montana State-Billings women’s basketball team Friday night as the Yellowjackets dropped their second straight game, 67-65 in overtime to Northwest Nazarene.  Robyn Milne led the Yellowjackets with 17 points, 19 rebounds and six blocked shots.  MSUB dropped to 10-9 overall and 7-7 against West Region opponents.  The Yellowjackets entered the week ranked ninth in the West Region, but dropped back-to-back regional games to St. Martin’s and Northwest Nazarene this week in Lacey.

The Yellowjackets trailed by ten at halftime, but outscored the Crusaders 29-19 in the second half to force overtime.  Eight points were enough for NNU in the extra period, helping the Crusaders even their season record at 7-7.

Jenny Auer scored 15 points for the Yellowjackets, hitting 5 of 11 from the field.  Tanya Petersen added 14, and Jennifer Skrifvars finished with ten points.  Auer and Skrifvars each reached career highs for points.  Milne’s six blocked shots tied her career high.

The Crusaders were led by Heidi Buehler’s 27 points on 7 of 16 shooting from the field.  She made three of the team’s five 3-pointers.  Jenny Binford added 14 points.

The Yellowjackets will travel to Florida for two games next week.  They will take on Florida Southern on February 2 and Nova Southeastern on February 4.  Florida Southern is 10-6 overall and 7-1 at home.  Nova Southeastern is 5-11 overall, but has won its last three.  The Yellowjackets will end the season with six straight home games starting February 13 and 14 against Converse College (SC).
