Yellowjacket Basketball Announces 2004 High School Recruiting Class (May 24, 2004)

BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings men’s basketball coach Craig Carse announced on Monday the signing of five high school seniors to national letters of intent.  The list includes one player from Montana, two from Australia, one from Canada and one from Arizona.

Jay Jamison, a 6-foot-2 guard from Big Sandy, Mont., is a graduate of Big Sandy High School and played on the Pioneers’ State C runner-up team.  He averaged 25 points and eight assists per game as a senior and earned first team all-conference and first team all-state honors.  He was also named to the State C all-tournament team.

Brett Weese, a 6-7 forward from Wilkie, Saskatchewan, is a graduate of McLurg High School.  He helped McLurg to the 2002-2003 district championship.

Drew Arnold, a 6-9 forward from Tempe, Ariz., is a graduate of Seton Catholic High School.  He averaged 15 points and nine rebounds a game as a senior, helping his team to the regional championship and a runner-up finish at the state tournament.  Arnold was named to the all-region first team, all-state second team and state all-tournament first team.

The Yellowjackets’ two Australian recruits are 6-1 guard Carlin Hughes and 6-8 forward Lucas Walker.  MSU Billings has had success with Australian players in recent years, including all-PacWest selections Dan Thompson and Danny Phillips.
