Yellowjackets Sign Two More Women’s Soccer Players (April 30, 2003)

BILLINGS, MT – The MSU Billings women’s soccer team has added two more recruits, increasing the number of new players signed for next fall to ten.  Head coach Don Trentham announced that Michelle Kinzer of Butte, Montana, and Kendal Blanc of Lehi, Utah will join the Lady Jackets next season.

Kinzer, a 2001 graduate of Butte High School, played a year at Jamestown College.  Trentham says she will redshirt next season.  As a high school senior, Kinzer was the Most Valuable Player on both her high school team and her club team.  She also earned all-conference honors and ranked No. 3 in the stat for total goals scored.

“Michelle and I are both excited about her second opportunity to play college soccer,” said Trentham.  “This next year of training with us will help her to get her touch and fitness back to where it needs to be to play at the college level.  I look for Michelle to be an important piece of our puzzle for the fall 2004 season.”

Blanc is a 2003 graduate of Lehi High School where she played as a stopper and center midfielder.  As a senior she was named her team’s Most Inspirational Player and Most Valuable Player after scoring four goals and notching nine assists.  Her team captured back to back regional championships in her junior and senior seasons, and she earned all-state honorable mention honors as a junior and all-state first team recognition as a senior.

“Kendal’s work ethic, athleticism and attitude will be a great asset to our team next year,” said Trentham.  “She is the type of student-athlete every coach wants on his team, one who pours her heart and soul into everything she does.  I expect her to come in and compete for a starting spot right away.”
