Tennis Teams Take Two from Marauders

BILLINGS, MT – The MSU Billings
men’s and women’s tennis teams each rolled to
victories over the University of Mary Friday night.
The Yellowjacket men won 7-2 and the women prevailed
8-1 in the first of a pair of weekend dual matches.
After marathon singles matches in the men’s half of
the dual, the women’s teams wrapped up play after
10:30 p.m. The Yellowjackets and Marauders will
square off again Saturday morning beginning at 9:00
a.m. at the MSU Billings Indoor Tennis Center.
Despite the 7-2 victory, the
Yellowjackets had to battle at the top of the
singles matches. At #1, the Jackets’ Sergio Diaz
needed three sets to dispatch Victor Romero. Diaz
dropped the first set 6-3 before outlasting Romero
7-5 and 7-6 in the final two sets. At #2, MSUB’s
Ryan Smith also went deep into three sets before
losing 7-6 in the third set. Those two matches
pushed the remaining men’s matches and the start of
the women’s matches well into the night.
The Lady Jackets cruised to
their win, dropping only the #1 match. They swept
through the three doubles matches and won singles #2
through #6. The highlight of the match was MSUB’s
Amanda Schlosser’s battle with Anna Neubauer.
Schlosser prevailed 7-5, 6-3.
