Cook to Leave Yellowjacket Basketball Team (April 4, 2003)

BILLINGS, MT – The MSU Billings basketball team announced Friday that sophomore Joe Cook (6'7" guard, Shepherd, Mont.) will not return to the team next season.  Cook, the younger brother of former standout and current assistant coach Brian Cook, plans to transfer to a school where he will see more playing time.

In his sophomore campaign, Cook saw action in 23 games, averaging six minutes per game.  He scored 40 points and had 25 rebounds.  He scored a season-high 10 points against Western New Mexico on February 1 of this year when the Yellowjackets set a new school and conference scoring record with 146 points.

Cook has not yet decided where he will attend school next year, but is looking at schools in the Frontier Conference.  He earned PacWest Academic All-Conference honors this year for his 3.68 GPA in business.
