Journal#1: Under what conditions will the instructor permit students to make up a missed quiz or turn in a late assignment?

Journal Entry #2: In the Thursday ice breaker activity, you discussed how you got started learning something (outside of school) that you now do well. The most common reasons given by the class were influence of family and friends or the requirements of a job.  For this journal entry, I would like you to tell how you went about becoming good at it.
