Terminology

"" Absolute Value The absolute value of a number is the distance between the number and zero on the number line.  When we find the absolute value of a number, we use the | | notation.
"" Negative Numbers All numbers to the left of zero on the number line.
"" Positive Numbers All number to the right of zero on the number line.
"" Scientific Notation A positive number is written in scientific notation if it is in the form a x 10n where a is a number greater than or equal to 1, but less than 10, and n is an integer. 
"" Signed Numbers All of the numbers on a number line.
