Terminology

"" Adjacent Angles Two angles that share a common side and a common vertex.
"" Acute Angle An angle whose measure is between 0 and 90 degrees
"" Alternate Interior Angles If a transversal intersects two lines, the two angles that are on opposite sides of the transversal and are between the other two lines.
"" Altitude of a Triangle The height of a triangle.
"" Angle An angle is made up of two rays that share a common endpoint.
"" Area The measure of the surface inside a geometric figure.
"" Center of a Circle The point in the middle of a circle from which all points on the circle are an equal distance.
"" Circumference The distance around the rim of a circle.
"" Complementary Angles Two angles that have a sum of 90 degrees.
"" Degree A unit used to measure an angle.
"" Diameter of a Circle A line segment that passes through the center of a circle.
"" Equilateral Triangle A triangle with all sides equal.
"" Hypotenuse The side opposite the right angle in a right triangle.
"" Isosceles Triangle A triangle with two sides equal.
"" Line Segment A portion of a straight line that has a beginning and an end.
"" Obtuse Angle An angle whose measure is between 90 and 180 degrees.
"" Parallel Lines Two straight lines that are equidistance apart.
"" Perfect Square When a whole number is multiplied by itself, the number that is obtained is a perfect square.
"" Perimeter The distance around an object.
"" Perpendicular Lines Lines that meet at a right angle.
"" Pythagorean Theorem A statement that for any right triangle the square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of the squares of the two legs.
"" Radius A line segment from the edge of the circle to the center of the circle.
"" Supplementary Angles Two angles that have a sum of 180 degrees.
"" Transversal A line that intersections two or more lines at different points.
"" Vertical Angles Opposite angles of equal measure that are formed when two lines intersect.
"" Volume The measure of space inside a three-dimensional object.
