Terminology

"" Common Factor A number that can be divided into both the numerator and denominator in order to reduce a fraction to simplest form.
"" Composite Number A whole number greater than 1 that can be divided by whole numbers other than itself.
"" Denominator The number on the bottom of a fraction.
"" Fraction Bar The line separating the numerator and the denominator.
"" Improper Fraction A fraction in which the numerator is greater than or equal to the denominator.
"" Least Common Denominator The LCD of two or more fractions is the smallest number that can be divided without remainder by each fraction's denominator.
"" Least Common Multiple The smallest number that is a multiple of 2 or more numbers. Used to find LCD.
"" Mixed Number A number created by the sum of a whole number and a proper fraction.
"" Numerator The number on the top of a fraction.
"" Prime Factors Factors that are prime numbers
"" Prime Numbers A whole number greater than one that only has one and itself as factors.
"" Proper Fraction A fraction in which the numerator is less than the denominator.
"" Reciprocal Swap the numerator and denominator.
"" Reduced Fraction A fraction in which the numerator and denominator have no common factors.
"" Simplest Form When the numerator and denominator have only 1 as a common factor.
