Dean McGinnis '70 is the new territory sales manger for Montana and Wyoming with UZ Engineered Products.
Kas Ioane '75 was one of this year's recipients of the Golden Apple Award for outstanding service in education by the Billings Chamber of Commerce and the Billings Education Association. Kas teaches health enhancement at Skyview High School.
Kim Foard '79 has achieved the designation of certified information technology professional as awarded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Kim is a CPA in Billings.
Kathi Hoyt '80 was named Top Teacher of the Year by the Billings Education Association. Kathi is the librarian at Burlington Elementary School. She was also noted for her work as a TILT and Camp Cadre instructor, president of the Montana Council of Computer Education and member of the OPI State Library Curriculum Standards Committee.
Berta Mills '84 and her husband, Philip, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a luncheon at United Methodist Church in Worland. Berta retired as a psychologist and Philip retired as a pastor. They have two children and six grandchildren.
Darlene Rector '88 was one of this year's recipients of the Golden Apple Award for outstanding service in education by the Billings Chamber of Commerce and the Billings Education Association. Darlene teaches math at Lewis & Clark Middle School.
Joy Mariska '89 was appointed by Gov. Brian Schweitzer to the Youth Justice Council. She was former director of court services for the 13th Judicial District.
Karen Rice '93 was one of this year's recipients of the Golden Apple Award for outstanding service in education by the Billings Chamber of Commerce and the Billings Education Association. Karen teaches 2nd grade at Arrowhead Elementary School.
Florence Gold '96 coordinates the NASA HUNCH project in Montana from an office at the College of Education at MSU Billings. Through a unique partnership with NASA and MSU Billings, students in Montana and the Midwest are being exposed to science, math and engineering challenges via the High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH). Those challenges will not only boost science, math and engineering skills, but provide NASA with tools for the future. A graduate of MSU Billings who spent seven years teaching in Laurel and other places, Gold is now on a mission to expose as many high schools and students to the possibilities of HUNCH. Using a small office on the main floor at the MSU Billings College of Education as her own mission control center, she coordinates educational efforts between NASA and interested teachers throughout the region.
Mark Venner '97 was one of this year's recipients of the Golden Apple Award for outstanding service in education by the Billings Chamber of Commerce and the Billings Education Association. Mark is principal at Orchard Elementary.
Andrew Verhasselt '03 was recently promoted to CADD designer at Sanderson Stewart, a Billings engineering firm. Andrew has been with the firm for four years.
Bethany Hein '04 has been hired by the Montana General office of New York Life Insurance Company as an agent for the Billings office.
Michael Miller '04 was one of this year's recipients of the Golden Apple Award for outstanding service in education by the Billings Chamber of Commerce and the Billings Education Association. Michael teaches 4th grade at Alkali Creek Elementary School.
Danielle Barton '08 is teaching English this fall at Billings Central High School.
Jon Wickens '08 has earned the A+ Service Technician and CompTIA Network+ certifications and recently completed a course on network support and administration. He is a computer support professional at Entre Technology Services in Billings and specializes in technician and systems administration services.
Trevor Pellinen '09 and his boxer dog, Blue, hiked the 2,200 Appalachian Trail last year, beginning the trek in August in Maine and ending in Georgia on December 31. Trevor is from Billings, Mont. and has a degree in environmental studies. His next planned hike is the 3,100 mile Continental Divide Trail from Canada to Mexico.
