MSU Billings Advisory

Friday, January 30, 2015

To:         MSU Billings faculty, staff and students
From:    Aaron Clingingsmith / University Relations & Communications

Police on the Montana State University Bozeman campus have issued an advisory to students about a new phone scam.

The scammers are predominantly calling foreign students on the MSU Bozeman campus. They are telling students they have a warrant for their arrest and that they must pay a fine immediately – and electronically – or they will be arrested by the Bozeman or Missoula Police Department.

To date, there have been no reported incidents on the MSU Billings or City College campuses.  However, students are being encouraged to report phone scams to by calling the non-emergency University Police number, 406-657-2147.

Thank you for your attention to this MSUB advisory.
