- Plan to attend New Student Day on January 10, 2012.
Interest workshops and tours of campus will be offered during this day.

· Freshman Student
Step 1: COMPASS Placement Testing
All freshmen must take the COMPASS placement test prior to orientation. Results of this test are used to advise students into the most appropriate English, mathematics, and reading courses. This test is self-paced and you may bring a calculator. To prepare ahead of time for the COMPASS test, visit www.act.org/compass/sample/index.html.

COMPASS testing is also available by individual appointment or remote testing. Please contact the Advising Center 406-657-2240 for more information on these options.
Step 2: Orientation
Freshman Orientation is a two-day introduction to college life at Montana State University Billings that includes a mandatory overnight stay. In addition to academic advising, class registration, and workshops, you will meet and connect with other freshmen.

- July 12-13
- July 26-27

Step 1: Registration
Schedule a time for your individual registration session by calling the Advising Center 406-657-2240.
Please note that all previous college transcripts must be submitted and evaluated before scheduling your registration session. During the registration time you will take any necessary placement tests, meet with an advisor, and register for classes.
Step 2: Orientation
