   Dr. Barfield has taught or been a guidance counselor in Japan, Micronesia, and Germany, as well as in Colorado, California, Virginia, and Montana. As a consultant, she has worked in the private sector and conducted program evaluations for the Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL), National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA), and individual school districts in Arizona, California, Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C., Michigan, and Oregon. 

   Dr. Barfield has been at MSU-B since fall 1997 and is currently an Assistant Professor for the Department of Educational Theory & Practice and the Department of Music. She also worked with the U.S. Department of Education Office of English Language Acquisition Big Horn Teacher and Personnel and Big Horn Career Ladder projects.
