These images are a
result of a unique collaboration
between art students and creative
writing students at Montana State
University Billings. During
Spring Semester 2008, students
enrolled in Art 256, Introduction to
Adobe Illustrator , Art 358,
Intermediate Computer Graphics, and
Art 458, Advanced computer graphics
chose poems written by students
enrolled in creative writing.
The writing
students were invited to do a
reading to the class. After
the reading, and over the course of several weeks,
the art students worked on digital
images in Adobe Illustrator as part
of a final project and then invited
the poetry students to assist in
critiquing the images and discussing
these interpretations of the poets’
work. The results of this
cooperative effort are displayed as
posters on the 4th floor
of the Liberal Arts Building on the
MSU Billings Campus and on these web
