A Japan Journey 2007

May 23rd

The trip and the stay at Hakuba were well needed. I have never stayed in a bed and breakfast and I enjoyed it immensely. Our hosts were very accommodating and we were served enough food to feed a small army. However during one of the meals we were served a complete fish with the head and eyes still intact. I gave it a try.

We walked up to the ski jump stadium in Hakuba, where the Nagano Winter

Olympics had been held in the late 1990's. The ride up on the ski lift was fun; at the top we were given a panoramic view of the beautiful, woodsy landscape. Before I started on the trip I had heard about the hot springs the Japanese call onsens and I tried to be open minded about the experience but ended up not joining the group on those occasions.
