MSUB Men’s Soccer Unveils 2008 Schedule

BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State Billings head men’s soccer coach, Dan McNally, announced the 2008 men’s soccer schedule, Thursday afternoon. The slate includes nine home games that are scheduled to be played at the newly renovated MSUB Soccer Field at the College of Technology campus. The schedule also features two teams that reached the NCAA tournament in 2007.

“Without question the 2008 schedule will be a great challenge for us,” McNally said.  “The GNAC is very strong and I am especially looking forward to continuing our rivalry with Seattle Pacific and Western Washington.  In addition, we have added tough regional games against Metro State and Fort Lewis, who won the 2005 national championship. I have great confidence in my team and we will be ready for every opponent.”

The Yellowjackets, who were 13-4-1 last season and finished second in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, open the 2008 campaign with two neutral site games against Dixie State and 2007 NCAA Tournament participant, Metro State, at Westminster College in Salt Lake, Utah,  Aug. 29 and Sept. 1, respectively.  MSUB opens the home slate against Mesa State Sept 5. It is the first of five consecutive home matches and the homestand concludes with the conference opener against Northwest Nazarene, Sept. 20.

The Jackets hit the road for an important match at 2007 NCAA tournament selection, Fort Lewis, Sept. 23, before returning home for the first of two matches against Jamestown, Sept. 27. MSUB returns home to begin October with two key GNAC matches against Saint Martin’s and Seattle Pacific (Oct. 2-4), before finishing the season with six of its final seven away from home. The home finale against Western Washington is scheduled for Oct. 31.

The 13-4-1 record by the Jackets last season was the first winning season in school history. McNally and the Yellowjackets return the GNAC Player of the Year and Daktronics third team all-America selection Sam Charles as well as Scott Dixon who was a NSCAA/Adidas second team all-Midwest Region selection.
