MONMOUTH, Ore. – Western Oregon used an overtime goal to defeat Montana State Billings 3-2 Sunday in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest.  The Lady Jackets have now dropped three-straight conference games falling to 8-8-1 overall and 4-6-1 in the league.  The Wolves improved to 4-11-2 and 4-7-0.

The Wolves’ Erica Hibbard took a pass from teammate Naomi Shimabuku and fired on the Yellowjackets’ goal from 25 yards to take the 1-0 lead at the 36-minute mark.  The Lady Jackets’ Chelsea Libby (Puyallup, Wash.) scored the equalizer just 2:21 later on a crossing shot to the far right post.  The goal was Libby’s second of the season.

Early in the second half, the Yellowjackets took the 2-1 lead on a short range goal from Samantha Sandau (Billings).  The goal, Sandau’s sixth of the season, was unassisted.  Western Oregon knotted the game in the 74th minute as Chelsie O’Neill put in a rebound shot following her teammate’s free-kick.

Hibbard scored her second goal of the game, chipping the ball into the Jackets’ net from 20 yards out just four minutes into overtime, clinching the game for the Wolves.

The teams were evenly matched with Western Oregon edging the Jackets 15-14 in total shots. They also held a 9-8 shots on goal advantage.  The Wolves’ Kelsie Blachly and the Lady Jackets’ Jordan Fenwick (Boise, Idaho) each tackled six saves in the game.

The Lady Jackets return to Billings to host conference opponents Northwest Nazarene (7-7-2, 4-6-1) on Thursday, October 25 and 2nd-ranked Seattle Pacific (17-0, 11-0) on Saturday, October 27 to wrap up the home schedule.  The Lady Jackets finish their season on the road taking on Seattle (14-2-0, 9-1-0) November 3.
