Lady Jackets Set to Host Argos
BILLINGS, Mont. – The Montana State
Billings women’s basketball team will play host to the
University of Great Falls on Wednesday, December 5th in what
will be the first meeting between these two teams. Game time is
slated for 7:00 p.m. at Alterowitz Gym.
The Argos’ (5-5) Laura Keaster is averaging
a team-leading 18.3 points and 2.4 steals per game for UGF.
Keaster has not scored fewer than 10 points in each of the 10
games played in this season. Her teammate, Jocelyn Moore, has
been efficient under the boards grabbing a team-leading 8.6
boards per game. Moore is also contributing 13 points per game
for the Argos. The 5-foot-10 Jacqui Millam is averaging 1.30
blocks per game to lead the Argo’s in blocked shots.
As a team Great Falls is shooting 41
percent from the floor and has knocked down 57 three-pointers in
10 games off 174 attempts for 33 percent. The team is an
average 71 percent from the charity stripe so far this season.
After starting the season 0-3, the Lady
Yellowjackets are enjoying a two-game win streak picking up wins
against Regis University at home on Nov. 24th and against
Colorado School of Mines last week in Golden, Colo., to stand at
MSUB is led by Alira Carpenter’s (Lewistown) 16 points per game. Carpenter
has drilled 12 three-pointers this season for 33 percent and is
one of three Yellowjackets that have been perfect from the free
throw line this season netting 16-of-16 from the charity
stripe. Kayla McPherson (Glendive) has come off the bench in each
game to average 11.8 points per game. McPherson, the Lady
Jackets other 3-point shooter, has 10 threes to her credit this
season. She is 13-of-13 from the free throw line.
The Lady Jackets’ point guard Shantell Marquis (Cascade) has contributed eight points per
game and has grabbed a team-leading 5.8 boards per game.
Marquis also leads MSUB averaging 3.4 assists and 2.8 steals per
game. Sophomore Dani Henderson (Reed Point) has made the most of her court
time this season shooting 48 percent from the floor and is
10-of-10 from the free throw line for 100 percent. Henderson’s
consistency is netting her 7.2 points per game.
As a team MSUB is shooting 36 percent from
the field and has out-shot their opponents 31-28 from behind the
arc for 27 percent while holding their competition to just 22
percent. The Yellowjackets are 81-of-103 from the line for 77
percent. The team is averaging 6.4 steals per game.
