   MSUB Season Stats

BISMARCK, N.D. – Five Marauders scored in double figures to run past the Montana State Billings Lady Jackets 90-67 Saturday in Bismarck, N.D. in non-conference action.  The loss drops the Yellowjackets to 3-4 overall while University of Mary improves to 5-3.""

The Marauders’ Nicci Landecck made a traditional three-point play after being fouled by MSUB to score the first points of the game at the 17-minute mark.  Mary continued to lead throughout the first half with the Jackets pulling within one possession on five different occasions.  A layup by Kristin Bear with 3:42 left in the half opened up a 10-point lead for the Marauders.  Dani Henderson (Reed Point) hit a jump shot with under a minute left in the half to settle for an 8-point deficit heading into the locker room.

Despite strong scoring efforts by Henderson and Alira Carpenter (Lewistown) in the second half, the Marauders pulled away to lead by as many as 25 before icing the win.

The Lady Jackets were led by Henderson’s career-high 19 points and nine rebounds.  Henderson was 6-of-12 from the floor and 2-of-2 from behind the arc.  Carpenter netted 14 of her 15 points in the second half of play shooting 4-of-11 from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from long range.  Shantell Marquis (Cascade) added nine points with teammate Kayla Ryan (Big Timber) chipping in seven.

Sonny Schulz scored a game-high 22 points of 9-of-17 shooting for the Marauders.  Schulz also nabbed a game-high four steals.  Kayla Rogers and Landdeck added 16 points a piece with Anna Skala and Kristin Bear netting 12 and 11 points respectively.

The Yellowjackets shot 39 percent from the field and connected on 5-of-11 attempts from long range, all coming in the second half of play, for 46 percent.  The team was 22-of-29 from the charity stripe and were out-rebounded 37-28.

The Lady Yellowjackets are idle until December 28 and 29 when they travel to Rohnert Park, Calif. for two games.  On Friday, the Jackets will face host team Sonoma State at 7:00 p.m. PST before playing in a neutral contest on Saturday against Chico State.  Tip off is slated for 5:00 p.m.  Live stats are available and can be viewed by logging onto the Seawolves’ website at http://sonomaseawolves.com/live/wbball/.  Following the two-game stint at Sonoma, the Jackets will open the conference schedule at Alaska Anchorage on January 3.
