2007-2008 Schedule
   2007-2008 Roster

BILLINGS, Mont. – Following a three-week hiatus from competition, the Montana State Billings men’s basketball team is set to play a two-game stint at the Nebraska-Omaha Classic November 23 and 24.  On Friday the Yellowjackets square off against St. Cloud State in a neutral contest set to begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by Saturday’s game in which the Jackets will face host team Nebraska-Omaha with tip off slated for 8:00 p.m.  Both games will be played in the Central Standard Time zone.

St. Cloud State (2-0) has posted wins against Bemidji State and the University of Mary to open their season undefeated.  Ross Winnekins leads the Huskies averaging 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.  David Dreas and Matt Schneck are also in double figures for scoring for St. Cloud averaging 13 and 11.5 points per game respectively.

As a team the Huskies are averaging 11 steals per game and have recorded five blocks in each of the two games played this season.  The team is 49 percent from the field, 32 percent from the perimeter and just 62 percent from the free throw line.

Nebraska-Omaha (2-0) is also undefeated, and like the Huskies, the Mavericks have chalked up wins against Bemidji State and the University of Mary to start their 2007-08 campaign.  Michael Jenkins has averaged 30.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game to lead UNO’s offensive attack.  Teammates Mitch Albers and Andrew Bridger are averaging 13.5 and 13 points per game respectively while Denny Johnston has pulled down a team-leading 10 boards per game.

As a team the Mavericks are averaging 45 percent from long range and have four players with five 3-pointers each.  The team is shooting 43 percent from the field and has connected on 43-of-49 free throws for 88 percent.  The team is averaging 7.5 steals per game and has recorded nearly a 20-point margin of victory in each game this season.

Fielding a team of seven freshmen and four sophomores, the Yellowjackets have a bright future ahead of them with the talent this team possesses.  Jeff Miner (Gresham, Ore.) leads the Jackets’ scoring with an average of 13.3 points per game.  Miner is shooting 37 percent from the floor and 33 percent from long range while he remains perfect from the free throw line connecting on all 11 attempts.  Newcomer Aaron Terry (Moreno Valley, Calif.) is averaging 12 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.  John Brooks (Perris, Calif.) and sophomore Troy Ruff (Custer) have each added 8.3 points per game, while Tyler Hentzen (Brea, Calif.) has pulled down a team-leading eight boards per game.

As a team the Yellowjackets are shooting 34 percent from the floor, 25 percent from three-point range and are 73 percent from the charity stripe.

The Yellowjackets open the home schedule on December 17 against cross-town rival Rocky Mountain College.  All home games will be video streamed live with live stats available and can be accessed online.
