Jacket Baseball Adds Three (7/16/07)

BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana State University Billings baseball coach Chris Brown announced Monday that three more recruits have committed to play for the Yellowjackets. Nate Enslow of Anchorage, Alaska, and Tyler Nelson of Helper, Utah, will transfer to MSUB as juniors, and Jordan McKamey of Worland, Wyo., will be a freshman.

Enslow is a 6-foot-1 outfielder who played two years at University of Charleston (W.Va.). He batted .333 as a freshman but appeared in just two games in 2007. Enslow graduated in 2005 from Robert Service High School in Anchorage. He was an all-city first team selection as a junior and senior.

“We are excited to have Nate join our program,” said Brown. “He is a talented player and a solid student that has a strong desire to succeed on and off the field. We look for him to immediately add depth and experience to the outfield. He is strong defensively, runs well, and is an on-base guy at the plate. Nate is a hard worker that will be a positive addition to our baseball program, athletic department, and university.”

Nelson is a 6-foot-3 outfielder who played two years at College of Eastern Utah. As a sophomore last season he batted .282 in 40 games to earn Scenic West Athletic Conference all-conference honors. A 2005 graduate of Carbon High School in Price, Utah, Nelson was a first-team all-state centerfielder.

“The addition of Tyler will help us immediately,” said Brown.  “He is a talented player that has had success at every level. He is a hard-working guy that is extremely motivated on the field and in the classroom. He played at a good junior college in a very strong conference and was an all-conference performer. We are looking for him to be able to step right in and contribute from day one.”

McKamey is a 5-foot-11 designated hitter who graduated from Worland High School last spring. He has batted over .400 in each of the last two Legion seasons, smacking 11 home runs in 2005 and 13 in 2006. Through July 2 of the current season, McKamey was batting .450 with six home runs and a .550 slugging percentage.

“Jordan is a big, strong kid with natural power,” said Brown. “He is a raw talent that we look forward to developing over the next four years. He has the natural power that you can’t teach but needs to refine his swing and become more consistent. He is a good all-around athlete, and that ability should help him bring his game to the next level.”
