Jacket Runners Finish Season at Regional (11/4/06)

Warrensburg, MO – The Montana State – Billings men’s and women’s cross country teams wrapped up their season Saturday at the South Central Regional Meet hosted by University of Central Missouri. 

The women’s 6K featured 19-teams including race favorite and No. 1 regionally ranked Abilene Christian.  The Wildcats held true to their ranking racing to a first place team finish with 71 points.  Pittsburg State (KS) finished second with 99 points and rounding out the third spot was the host team University of Central Missouri with 125 points.

The women’s individual top honor belongs to Jacquie Faust of Truman State.  Faust finished in a time of 22:00.  Rachel Ingram of Southwest Oklahoma placed second with a 22:02.  Jonel Rossbach of Emporia State was third turning in a time of 22:03.

The Lady Jackets were paced by the freshman Teri Lea McCormick (Hardin, MT.  McCormick placed 58th with a 24:08.  Crystal Roseberry’s (Chinook, MT) time of 24:55 placed her 80th in the race.  As a team the Lady Jackets, currently ranked 10th in the Southwest Region, placed 14th with 386 points.

Abilene Christian dominated the men’s 10K taking first through fourth places in the individual race.  Nicodemus Naimadu won in a time of 31:34.  Naimadu was followed by teammates Laurent Ngirakamaro, Philip Birgen, and Julius Nyango all finishing within four seconds of the leader.  Matt Roseberry (Chinook, MT) led the Jackets with a time of 35:12 placing him 68th Jarred Rensvold (Wolfpoint, MT) finished 85th clocking a 36:23.

With just 18 points Abilene Christian coasted to victory in the 17-team men’s team competition.  Missouri Southern State was second with 73 points and just like their female counterparts, host University of Central Missouri took third with 100 points.  The Yellowjackets were 17th with 458 points.
