BILLINGS, MT – For the second-straight day, the Montana State-Billings volleyball team swept Oklahoma Panhandle State, 3-0.  It was the home finale for the Yellowjackets, who improved to 21-4 overall and 8-0 in the Heartland Conference.  OPSU dropped to 2-27, 0-6.

After a quick match at Friday’s Senior Night, Yellowjacket coach Pa’ulasi Matavao let the young players see plenty of action Saturday afternoon.  MSUB still controlled the match from start to finish, however, winning 30-15, 30-22, 30-20.  The Jackets out-hit the Aggies .250 to .029 and had 27 more kills in the match.

Ali Watson (Calgary, AB) and Alicia Cazemier (Vauxhall, AB) led the Yellowjackets with 13 kills apiece.  Watson had an attack percentage of .400 and Cazemier hit .455.  Both players also had two blocks.

Jessica Bratton (Casper, WY) and Jill Trabing (Buffalo, WY) each knocked down six kills apiece for the Jackets.  Nicole Kruse (Huntley, MT) had a match-high 11 digs.  Taylor Faught (Billings, MT) handed out a career-high 22 assists.  MSU Billings had a season-high 15 service aces in the match.  Watson led all players with four.  Cazemier and Trabing each had three aces, and Kruse added two.

The Aggies were led by Amber McKinney’s eight kills and nine digs.  Molly Woodhall added seven kills and six digs.  Cheryl Coldwell had nine digs and 13 assists.

The Yellowjackets close out the regular season next weekend in San Antonio when they take on second-place St. Mary’s University.  All the Jackets need in order to claim the No. 1 seed in the Heartland Conference Championship Tournament is a split of the two matches against the Rattlers.  MSUB will host the HLC Tourney on November 3 and 4 at Alterowitz Gym.  Friday will feature semifinal matches at 3:00 and 6:00 p.m.  The championship match will be at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
