Game 1 Box Score

Game 2 Box Score

GOODWELL, OK-  The Montana State-Billings softball team used two extra inning games to complete the series sweep over Heartland Conference opponent Oklahoma Panhandle Sunday in Goodwell, Oklahoma.  The Lady Jackets defeated the Aggies 7-6 in nine innings in game one and 3-2 in eight innings in the late game.  The wins improve the Jackets to 15-14 overall and 6-1 in conference play, while the Aggies dropped to 4-20 and 0-14 in the league.

The Lady Jackets found themselves ahead 6-1 following four innings but the Aggies used two two-run innings in the fifth and sixth and one in the seventh to tie the game forcing extra innings.  The eighth inning drew zeros and in the top of the ninth and with two outs, the Lady Jackets’ Jessica Frank (Great Falls, MT) singled to get on base.  Terina Stacks (Washougal, WA) hit her eleventh double of the season, and her second of the game, bringing Frank home for the eventual game-winning run.

Stacks went 3-for-5 and drove in two RBI.  Leslie Davis (Federal Way, WA) went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and hit her second home run of the season.  Lisa Moore (Bakersfield, CA) improved to 4-4 on the season and pitched six and two-thirds innings in earning the win.  Moore allowed six runs off 11 hits, and struck out six batters.  In total, the Lady Jackets drove in seven RBI, four doubles, and one home run in game one.

To start game two, the Lady Aggies got on the scoreboard first using a two-RBI third inning to jump out to the 2-0 lead.  In the top of the fourth, the Lady Jackets answered back with two runs of their own to tie the game.  Davis reached on a fielder’s choice and advanced to second on a single by Stephanie Gosselin (Victoria, BC).  Frank hit a double to plate Davis with Gosselin advancing to third.  Aysha Maddox (Richland, WA) reached on a fielder’s choice, advancing Frank to third with Gosselin picked off at home plate.  Jenna Haacke (Billings, MT) hit a double bringing Frank in for the run.  The inning ended as Lorel Palmer (Ogden, UT) grounded out.

The game remained scoreless in the fifth through seventh innings sending the game into extra innings.  All it took was one run in the eighth for the Jackets to sweep the series.  Megan Moeller (Ontario, OR) singled followed by a sacrifice hit by Palmer to advance Moeller to second.  Rebekah Tsatsa (Eagle, ID) hit her first double of the season to score Moeller for the win.

Frank went 4-for-4 with one run, one RBI, and a double.  Davis, Frank, and Moeller scored runs for the Yellowjackets.  Tsatsa improved to 6-6 in picking up the win.  She allowed no runs, struck out four, and scattered two hits in five and a third innings of work.

The Lady Jackets will have no rest before taking on West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas Monday, March 19 for two games.  First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CST.  Following the games against the Buffalo’s, the Jackets will play four Heartland Conference games against St. Edward’s University March 24 and 25.
