Jackets’ Weisen Garners Heartland Award (10/10/06)

BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings men’s soccer player Jarred Weisen was named Heartland Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 2-8.  The award is Weisen’s first and the programs fifth of the year.

Weisen, a freshman midfielder from Great Falls, Montana scored the lone goal in Friday’s shutout win over University of Mary.  The goal came at the 78:59 mark on a mid-field pass from Jay Doogan (Glasgow, Scotland) to Jurell Linford (Missoula, MT).  Linford crossed to the left side of the net making contact with Weisen for the game-winning goal.  The goal is Weisen’s second of his collegiate career and more importantly lifted the Jackets to three consecutive wins; a feat that has not been accomplished since September 2003.

The Yellowjackets take to the road for a three-game road trip to Texas.  The Jackets will play No. 8 Incarnate Word (11-1-2) on October 13 followed by a match against St. Mary’s (3-6-3) on October 15.  The Jackets will wrap up the trip with a game against St. Edward’s (4-2-4) on October 17.
