Larson Seventh After 36-Holes (4/18/06)
 

GUYMON, OK – Nicholas Larson leads the Montana State-Billings men’s golf team at the Heartland Conference Tournament in Guymon, Oklahoma.  The eight-team tournament, hosted by Oklahoma Panhandle State University, is being played at the par-70 Sunset Hills Golf Course April 17 and 18.

In the team competition Western New Mexico has a five-stroke lead over second place St. Mary’s University with rounds of 277 and 280 for 557.  St. Mary’s leads St. Edward’s by one stroke carding a team low round 272 and 290 for 562.  The Yellowjackets sit comfortably in fifth with rounds of 294 and 291 for a combined 585.  The Jackets are playing some of their best golf as a team shooting 17 stokes under their team average in tournament play this year.  The host team Oklahoma Panhandle is in sixth with a 598 (297, 301).

There is a tie atop the leader board between Western New Mexico’s Jason Myers and St. Edwards’s Jeff Howard.  Both Myers and Howard shot to a five-under 135 after 36-holes.  Two strokes back and in the third spot is Jamie Amoretti of St. Mary’s with rounds of 69 and 68 for 137.  The Jackets’ Larson (So., Riverton, WY) is tied with Western New Mexico’s Chris Schofield at one-over.  Larson shot a two-under 68 in round one and a three-over 73 in round two for a combined 141.  Michael Konrad (Fr., Rupert, ID) sits in a tie for eleventh carding rounds of 76 and 68 for a 144.

The Jackets will wrap up their competitive season Tuesday, April 18 playing the final round of 18 in Guymon, Oklahoma.
