Hughes, a sophomore from Perth, Australia, averages 10.3 assists per game and has led the nation since the NCAA began its weekly rankings in early January.  In 15 games this season he has handed out 10 or more assists 10 times and has had seven double-doubles for points and assists.  Hughes also ranks 48th in the nation for steals per game (2.3).

In addition to Munoz and Hughes, Moritz Wohlers and Buddy Windy Boy are also ranked by the NCAA this week.  Wohlers, a senior from Wolfenbuttel, German, ranks 28th in the country for field goal percentage (58.7) and 49th for rebounds per game (8.3).  Windy Boy, a senior from Lodge Grass, MT, ranks 19th in the nation for 3-pointers per game (3.3) and 63rd for 3-point percentage (37.7).

As a team the Yellowjackets rank first for 3-point shooting and fourth for scoring.  MSU Billings averages 13.1 three-pointers and 94.0 points per game.  The Jackets also rank 39th for 3-point percentage (38.8), 40th for scoring margin (10.2), and 50th for field goal percentage (47.5).

The Yellowjackets, 12-3 overall and 5-0 in the Heartland Conference, next play on Saturday, January 28 when they host St. Edward’s University.  Tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at Alterowitz Gym.  Pending the Hilltoppers’ game at Lincoln on Wednesday, Saturday’s game will likely break a tie for first place between MSU Billings and St. Edward’s.  If St. Edward’s wins Wednesday at Lincoln, both MSUB and SEU will be 5-0 in league play on Saturday.
