Official Conference Release & Complete All-Conf. Teams

BILLINGS, MT – Four men’s basketball players from Montana State University-Billings were named to All-Heartland Conference teams on Monday.  The Yellowjackets, who were regular season co-champions and runners-up in the conference playoffs, placed two players on the first team, one on the second team, and one on the honorable mention team.

Seniors Cameron Munoz (Chino, CA) and Moritz Wohlers (Wolfenbuttel, Germany) were selected to the All-Heartland Conference First Team.  They were joined by David Lunn of St. Edward’s, Joe Allen of St. Mary’s, and Aaron Harrison of Oklahoma Panhandle State.  Lunn was named the Heartland Conference player of the year and the newcomer of the year.

Munoz led the league in scoring and 3-point shooting and was named the conference player of the week three times.  He averaged 21.8 points and 5.25 made 3-pointers per game while shooting 43.5 percent from behind the arc.  Munoz led the nation in 3-pointers made for the season and broke the all-time NCAA Division II career 3-point record.  He finished his career with 451 triples, eight more than the previous record of 443 set by Stephen Dye of Alderson-Broaddus.  Munoz also ranked in the Heartland’s top 15 for field goal percentage and free throw percentage.

Wohlers earned first team honors in his first and only season with the Yellowjackets.  The 6-foot-9 transfer ranked second in the conference for scoring and third for rebounding, averaging 19.4 ppg and 8.0 rpg.  A two-time Heartland Conference player of the week, Wohlers also ranked in the top 15 in the conference for field goal percentage, free throw percentage, blocked shots, and offensive rebounds.

Sophomore guard Carlin Hughes (Perth, Australia) was the only Yellowjacket selected to the All-Heartland Conference second team.  The conference and national leader for assists, Hughes averaged 9.61 assist per game.  He also ranked third in the conference for scoring at 17.3 ppg.  Hughes broke the MSUB single season school record with 269 assists.

Senior guard Buddy Windy Boy (Lodge Grass, MT) earned honorable mention honors.  He ranked twelfth in the league for scoring and second for 3-pointers made.  Windy Boy also finished third in school history for career 3-pointers with 305.
