Lady Jackets Drop Road Game at Boise State (Oct. 14, 2004)
Box Score

BOISE, ID – The Montana State-Billings women’s soccer team made a strong showing against Division I Boise State on Thursday, but the Yellowjackets lost for just the fourth time this season, 2-0.  MSU Billings dropped to 10-4-1 overall while Boise State improved to 9-4-1.

“We played really well,” said Yellowjacket head coach Don Trentham.  “Boise State is a good team.  They’re tied for first in the WAC (Western Athletic Conference) and today the shots on goal were five to five.  It’s always disappointing to lose, but our effort was there.  We just played a team that was better than we were today.  Their coaches were very complimentary after the game.”

The first goal of the game came at 19:31 when the Yellowjackets gave up an own goal.  Other than the own goal, MSU Billings held the Broncos scoreless until the final ten minutes of the game.  BSU netted the insurance goal at 80:14 when BreeAnn Milligan scored an unassisted goal from about 17 yards on the far right side of the box.

Yellowjacket midfielders Ally Taylor (So., Ojai, CA) and Brittney Sandau (Fr., Billings, MT) were able to penetrate the Boise State defense for three shots apiece.  All three of Taylor’s shots were saved by the Broncos’ keepers.  Two of Sandau’s shots were on goal.

Kim Parker and Michaela Morrison combined for the shutout in goal for Boise State, making three and two saves respectively.  The Yellowjackets’ Megan Plank (So., Phoenix, AZ) made three saves.

MSU Billings wraps up the trip to Idaho at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with a Far West Region contest at Northwest Nazarene in Nampa.  The Crusaders are 5-8-0 after top-ranked Seattle Pacific won in Nampa on Wednesday, 8-1.  The Yellowjackets return to Billings to play at Rocky Mountain on October 21.
